This is a developing story. We’ll continue to update this post with prayer requests and faith-based reflections.

The Update

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a Pentagon briefing today on Operation Epic Fury, the ongoing military operation against Iran. His message was somber:

“War is hell and always will be. A grateful nation honors the four Americans we have lost thus far and those injured – the absolute best of America.”

Key Developments

  • Four US service members killed in Iran’s counterattacks
  • Operation Epic Fury will not be completed “overnight” (could take weeks)
  • Only 25% of Americans support the military action
  • More than half believe Trump’s use of force is excessive
  • Oil prices up 13% – Brent Crude above $80/barrel
  • Hegseth: “We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we’re finishing it”

A Call to Prayer

As Christians, we are called to pray for:

  1. The families of the four fallen soldiers – may God comfort them in their grief
  2. All service members deployed in the region – protection and safe return
  3. The Iranian people – that hearts would be changed and lives spared
  4. Our leaders – wisdom for the President, Congress, and military commanders
  5. Peace – that God’s shalom would prevail over violence

Faith Perspective

The Bible is clear: war is devastating. James 4:1-2 reminds us:

“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want but you don’t have; you kill and covet but you cannot obtain.”

And Jesus taught in Matthew 5:9:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

We grieve the loss of life. We pray for peace. And we trust that God is sovereign even in the midst of conflict.

Prayer

Father, we come before you with heavy hearts. We lift up the families who have lost loved ones in this conflict. Wrap your arms around them and give them your comfort. We ask for peace – not the peace the world gives, but your supernatural peace that surpasses understanding. Protect our troops and bring them home safely. Soften the hearts of all involved and end this conflict quickly. We trust you in the midst of chaos. In Jesus name, Amen.
