All Out of Time

There’s something haunting about the phrase “all out of time.” It speaks to urgency, to moments slipping away, to the realization that time is the one resource we can never get back. Today’s song carries that weight — a reminder that our days are numbered, and what we do with them matters eternally.

The Gift of Today

We live as if we have forever. We put off conversations that need to happen, forgiveness that needs to be given, love that needs to be expressed. We tell ourselves “later” — but later isn’t promised.

Psalm 90:12 says it plainly: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Numbering our days isn’t about living in fear of death. It’s about living with purpose in life. It’s recognizing that every sunrise is a gift, every breath an opportunity, every moment a chance to reflect God’s love to someone who needs it.

What Would You Do Differently?

If you knew you were all out of time — what would you say? Who would you call? What would you stop worrying about?

For most of us, the list includes things like:

  • Telling someone we love them
  • Asking for forgiveness
  • Letting go of a grudge
  • Sharing our faith
  • Living more generously
  • Spending more time with family

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to wait. You’re not out of time yet. Today is still yours. This moment is still yours.

The Urgency of Eternity

There’s a deeper urgency here too — not just about our earthly days, but about eternity. The Bible speaks of a day when time itself will end, when history reaches its culmination in Christ. Revelation 10:6 speaks of that final day when “there should be time no longer.”

Until then, we live in the tension — between the already and the not yet, between grace and judgment, between opportunity and accountability.

Living With Intention

So how do we live when we remember we’re not guaranteed tomorrow?

1. Love boldly. Don’t hold back. Tell people they matter. Show them Christ’s love.

2. Forgive quickly. Grudges are heavy baggage for a journey with an unknown endpoint.

3. Share your faith. You never know which conversation might be the one someone remembers for eternity.

4. Invest in what lasts. Time, talent, treasure — pour into things that echo into forever.

5. Rest in God’s timing. Even when we’re “out of time,” God is never late. His plans unfold perfectly.

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for this day — for the gift of breath, of time, of opportunity. Teach me to number my days. Help me to live with intention, to love without holding back, to forgive freely, and to share the hope I have in Christ. When I’m tempted to procrastinate on what matters, remind me: today is the day You’ve given me. Use me while I have time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Moment to Reflect

Take 60 seconds right now:

  1. Who do you need to tell “I love you”?
  2. Who do you need to forgive — or ask forgiveness from?
  3. What’s one thing you’ll do today that you’ve been putting off?

Don’t wait. You’re not out of time yet — but the clock is ticking. ⏰
