Peace (Eirene)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. — John 14:27

What It Is NOT

  • The absence of conflict or stress
  • Avoiding difficult conversations
  • Numbing yourself to problems

Gods Perspective

Biblical peace (shalom) means wholeness and harmony with God, self, and others. Everything in its right place — restored relationships, a quiet heart, and the absence of inner turmoil.

Its the calm assurance that God is in control, even when life feels chaotic.

Biblical Example

Jesus sleeping through a violent storm while His disciples panicked. When they woke Him, He calmed the wind and waves — then asked, Why are you so afraid?

Practical Application

  • Bring your anxieties to God in prayer
  • Practice Sabbath rest
  • Reconcile broken relationships
  • Trust God with what you cannot control

Reflection Questions

  1. Where in your life do you feel the most unrest?
  2. What are you trying to control that belongs to God?
  3. Who do you need to seek peace with?

Prayer

Prince of Peace, calm the storms in my life and in my heart. Teach me to rest in Your sovereignty. Make me a peacemaker wherever You place me. Amen.
