Kindness (Chrestotes)
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. — Ephesians 4:32
What It Is NOT
- Mere politeness or social niceties
- Weakness or being a doormat
- Kindness only to those who deserve it
Gods Perspective
Kindness is sweet usefulness — actively doing good for others. The Greek word was used to describe wine that was mellow and easy to drink. Its love in action, gentle and beneficial.
Biblical Example
The Good Samaritan — stopping to help a stranger who was beaten and left for dead, paying for his care, expecting nothing in return.
Practical Application
- Look for one person to encourage each day
- Speak gently when others are harsh
- Help someone without announcing it
- Remember small details about people
Reflection Questions
- Who showed you kindness recently? How did it feel?
- Where could you be kinder in your daily interactions?
- Is there someone youve been avoiding who needs kindness?
Prayer
Kind God, soften my heart toward others. Help me see opportunities to show Your kindness. Make me gentle and useful in Your hands. Amen.
