REFLECTION
We live in a world that values certainty, control, and having all the answers. We want to know exactly what’s coming next, we want to see the whole map before we take a step, and we want guarantees before we trust.
But faith isn’t about having all the answersโit’s about trusting the One who does. The writer of Proverbs tells us to trust God “with all your heart” and to stop relying on our own limited understanding. That’s not easy. Our human nature wants to be in control, to figure things out, to have a backup plan in case God doesn’t come through.
Here’s what I’ve learned: God’s path is rarely a straight line from point A to point B. It’s filled with detours, surprises, and moments where we have no idea what’s happening. But every step of the way, He’s there. He’s making our paths straight not by removing every obstacle, but by walking with us through them.
When we submit our ways to Godโour plans, our dreams, our fears, our uncertaintiesโsomething beautiful happens. We discover that His ways are higher than ours, His timing is better than ours, and His purposes are worth waiting for.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Today, think about an area of your life where you’re trying to maintain control instead of trusting God. Maybe it’s a decision you need to make, a relationship you’re worried about, or a future you’re trying to figure out. Write it down, then pray: “Lord, I commit this to You. I don’t understand everything, but I trust You. Make my path straight.” Then, whenever anxiety tries to creep in, remind yourself: “This is committed to God. I can trust Him.”
PRAYER
Lord, it’s hard to trust when I can’t see the whole picture. Help me to trust You with all my heart instead of relying on my own limited understanding. Today I commit my ways to Youโmy plans, my worries, my hopes, my fears. Thank You that You promise to make my path straight. I trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
