A short note before the next season of posts begins.

Days 6 and 7 of our walk through 1 Peter 3 – Baptism, Resurrection, Ascension and Living as Exiles in a Watching World – went up later than their intended dates. I apologize for the delay. They are live now, and they complete the chapter. If you missed them, you can find them in the Daily Journey section, dated June 29 and June 30.

But more important than the schedule is a piece of family news.

We Are Moving

Our family is in the middle of a transition – moving from Texas to another state. The work of packing, traveling, settling, and unpacking takes a season, and we are stepping into it now. For the next several weeks I will be away from the keyboard.

I am grateful for the writing rhythm this blog has held since January. The daily posts have been a small, faithful discipline for me – a way of slowing down with a chapter of Scripture and paying attention to what it asks of me and of us. Stepping away from it for a season is its own kind of fasting. I expect to miss the practice before long.

What to Expect

There will be no new posts during the transition. The pause will run roughly through the end of July and the first days of August, while we get moved and unpacked. The aim is to pick the rhythm back up around August 10 – Lord willing and the boxes cooperating.

If you have been walking through 1 Peter 3 with me, the chapter is complete. The series plan called for seven days, and there are seven days. The widow in Mark 12 gave everything she had. The wife in 1 Peter 3 adorns what cannot be taken. The Christian has ascended in Christ to the right hand of God. The chapter is yours to keep.

A Prayer for the Road

Father, you have been our home before we had a house. Watch over this move – the packing and the goodbyes, the highway and the new door, the boxes and the unpacking, the small griefs and the small joys of starting again. Keep our family. Keep our neighbors here, and prepare the neighbors we have not met yet. Give us patient hands and unhurried hearts. Bring us to the other side rested. And when the boxes are empty and the rooms are ours again, bring us back to this page, ready to pay attention again. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
